Thomas R. Smith, 77, of Lancaster, passed away Friday, September 17, 2021, following a brief illness. Born in Ephrata, he was the son of the late Robert E. and Ruth (Shimp) Smith.

Tom retired from Manheim Township Public Works where he worked in building maintenance and was a pool keeper.

A selfless person, Tom always put others before himself. He truly had a heart of gold. Tom enjoyed horseback riding and golfing. He loved to spend time watching his daughter, Ashley playing soccer and watching his grandson, Logan as he grew. Family dinners were always a special time filled with laughter and beers. His favorite slogan was, "one and done!" but this never resulted in just one beer.

Tom is survived by 3 children: Ashley Scherry, wife of Steven; Kris Askvig, wife of Mike; and Gail Kerner, wife of Doug; 4 grandchildren: Logan, Ross, husband of Meredith, William, and Andrew; and 2 great-grandchildren. Tom joins his faithful companion, Lexi, a Boxer dog, in heaven.
