September 23, 1946 – August 12, 2017
Thomas A. Jones, Jr., 70, of Holtwood, passed away on Saturday, August 12, 2017. He was the husband of Cathy (Pierce) Jones, with whom he celebrated 13 years of marriage this past January 1st. Born in Columbus, OH, he was the son of the late Thomas A., Sr., and Martha Carver Jones. A graduate of the University of South Carolina, Thomas had served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War as a Machinists Mate First Class in the Submarine Service from 1969 to 1977. He was employed as a radiation protection technician for over 30 years, working for many companies throughout his career and was a member of the NRRPT. A devout and faithful man, Thomas was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church. He was also a third degree knight with the Knights of Columbus Council 9164 in Quarryville. He enjoyed bird watching, especially hummingbirds, gardening, fishing, camping, dancing and going to Muddy Run Park. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Mark married to Tikki Hawker of Buffalo, MN and Theresa Ober of Lititz; his two grandchildren Anastasia and Andrew Esbenshade, and his great grandchild Abigale Kreiser. He is also survived by his siblings: Michael D. Jones, Rebecca Bronder, Keith E. Jones, Peggy A. Wilson, James A. Jones, Mary E. Day, Larry J. Jones Sr., Constance S. Harvey, and John C. Jones. He was preceded in death by his son, William D. Jones, and his sister, Rose Marie Casto. Friends will be received on Friday, August 18, 2017 at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 955 Robert Fulton Hwy, Quarryville, PA from 10-11AM, with the Mass to follow at 11AM. Interment in Quarryville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in Thomas' memory to the American Cancer Society, 314 Good Drive, Lancaster, PA 17603.
