Thomas J. Cox, Jr., 60, of Monroeton, Bradford County, PA and formerly of Lancaster, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, June 30, 2017 after being struck in a head-on collision. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of Rita Farr Cox of Lititz, and the late Thomas J. Cox, Sr. While living in Lancaster, Tom had worked as a machine operator at the JL Clark Corporation. He has also previously worked for David Pflumm Paving and at Burnham Boiler Company. A true outdoorsman, Tom enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed gardening, watching old time movies, and reading western novels. Above all, his family was his greatest treasure and he loved to spend time with them. Tom was a US Army veteran, serving as a SP4 from 1975 to 1982 with the Third Infantry Division. He was a member of American Legion Post 0042 in Towanda, PA. He had grown up in and was a former member of St. Anthony Padua Catholic Church. In addition to his mother, Rita, he is survived by his son, David J. married to Stacey Cox of Lititz; his grandson Dylan Malone, his 5 siblings: Helen Levering of Lititz, Rita married to Richard Sasso of Lititz, Charles married to Cathy Cox of Leola, Cindy married to Herb Croom of Lancaster, and Michael Cox of New York City, NY; several nieces and nephews, and by his companion, Melissa Thompson. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, July 7, 2017 at 11AM at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 501 E. Orange St., Lancaster, PA, the Rev. James O'Blaney as Celebrant. Interment will be private.
