Obituary

Thalia H. Moshos, 76, of Lancaster, died unexpectedly on Thursday morning June 19, at Lancaster General Hospital.

Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late George D. and Marouka (Vekios) Patounas.  Thalia was married to James N. Moshos on the island of Chios in the village of St. George Sikousis, Greece. They celebrated their fifty-sixth wedding anniversary in February.

Thalia was the co-owner of Mama Mia's Pizzeria, North Lime and East James Streets, Lancaster.  She and her husband operated Mama Mia's for thirty two years.  Prior to Mama Mia's, Thalia worked at the Apollo Restaurant, which was located at the same location as Mama Mia's, and was owned and operated by her parents.

Thalia was a 1949 graduate of J.P. McCaskey High School.  A lifelong, active member of Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church of Lancaster, she sang in the senior choir, volunteered at the annual church bazaar, and was an active member of the Philoptochos Society.  Thalia was a former member of Daughters of Penelope.

A very caring and compassionate person, Thalia was very full of life, and always had a beautiful smile.  She enjoyed tennis, playing bridge, traveling with her husband, Jim, vacationing with her family, and she loved cooking meals for her family.

Surviving in addition to her husband, are two sons, William J. Moshos, husband of Georgia M., and Mark J. Moshos, husband of Angela M., both of Lancaster, three grandchildren, Thalia P., James, and Andrew.  She is also survived by eleven nieces and nephews.  Thalia was preceded in death by a brother, John Patounas.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday morning, June 21, at 11 AM, at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 64 Hershey Ave., Lancaster, PA 17603 with Rev. Alexander Veronis officiating.  The viewing will be held on Friday evening from 7 until 9 PM at the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home and Chapel Inc., 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA.  The Trisagion services will be held at 8 PM.  A second viewing will be held at the church on Saturday morning from 10 until 11 AM.  Interment in Conestoga Memorial Park.  Please omit flowers, memorials in Thalia's memory may be sent to the Philoptochos Society, c/o Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church.
