Terrence L. Rainar, 64, of East Petersburg passed away Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at home. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Robert J. and Sylvia (Martens) Rainar.

Terry was a 1967 graduate of J.P. McCaskey High School. Heavily influenced by the peace movement of the 60's, Terry loved the outdoors, inspiring him to obtain a degree in Environmental Studies from St. Petersburg College. He worked over 30 years as an air quality specialist in the Lancaster office of the PA Department of Environmental Resources.

An avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting and fishing. He was a gun collector and a member of the East Petersburg Sportsman Association for many years. He supported many environmental organizations but was particularly devoted to the Chesapeake Bay Foundation. He enjoyed following Philadelphia sports, especially the Flyers.

He is survived by his son, Benjamin T. Rainar, husband of Stephanie, of Lititz, 2 grandchildren, Reese & Cooper. Also surviving is a brother, Richard T. Rainar, husband of Diane, of Landisville and a sister, Patricia A. Hellickson, wife of James, of Largo, FL. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Timothy R. Rainar.
