Teresa J. "Terry", "TJ" Wendel, 74, of New Providence, PA, passed away at Hospice & Community Care, Mount Joy, PA, on Wednesday, January 22, 2020. She was born in Lancaster, PA to the late Charles W. Spangler, Sr. and Mabel Elizabeth (Black) Spangler. TJ was preceded in death by her husband Robert A. Wendel, Sr.
A 1964 graduate of Lancaster Catholic High School, she was of the Catholic Faith. TJ worked at the Host and then Catalina Bar as a bar and beverage waitress. She then worked as a clerk at Smithgall's Pharmacy for over 15 years. In retirement, TJ took care of her parents. Growing up TJ called her brother, Paul, a bratty baby brother and they enjoyed teasing each other about who they were dating. TJ was a very caring person, who enjoyed her family and friends, especially her granddaughters. She was an avid reader and enjoyed Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. TJ loved to vacation at the New Jersey and North Carolina Shores.
Surviving TJ are her son, Robert A. Wendel, Jr. of Lancaster, her daughter Jessica J., wife of Joshua Thompson of New Providence; her granddaughters Ava Grace and Mya Sue Thompson; and her brothers, Charles W. Spangler, Jr., husband of Ledenia of the Philippines and Paul R. Spangler, Sr., husband of Judith of Elk Grove, CA. Her sisters, Patricia Shetromph and Joanne Shaller preceded TJ in death.
Relatives and friends are invited to a graveside service at 1 p.m. on Friday, January 31, 2020 in the mausoleum of Conestoga Memorial Park, 95 Second Lock Road, Lancaster, PA 17603, followed by entombment in the mausoleum.
