Teresa Herr, 91, of Elizabethtown, PA formerly of Lancaster died Monday, February 29, 2016 in the Masonic Village. She was the wife of the late Roy M. Herr who died in 2004.
Born in Vasto, Italy she was a daughter of the late Alberto and Concetta (Apollonio) Galuppo. Teresa attended cosmetology school in Vasto, Italy and was a beautician for over 40 years and retired from the former Community Hospital of Lancaster. She had a love for butterflies, reading, gardening, pinochle and making crafts and angels for her family and friends. She was the first Italian War Bride to come to Lancaster Co. She was a devout catholic and a member of St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church where she was active in the Legion of Mary, Woman's Club, Rosary Guild and Catholic Daughters of America. She was a volunteer with St. Anne's Retirement Home and was a past-president of the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary. Teresa loved to travel which included attending yearly Army reunions with her late husband and spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her four daughters Teresa E. Rohrer of Jacksonville, FL, Joanna M. Herr wife of Ronald Hanks of San Diego, CA, Patricia L. wife of David Fossler of Strasburg, PA and Tina A. wife of Doug Zima of Lancaster, PA; nine grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Teresa was preceded in death by her siblings Michalina Galuppo, Linda Bruschi, Geno Galuppo, Anthony Galuppo and Maria Linsler.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at 11AM from St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, 2111 Millersville Pike Lancaster, PA 17603 with Fr. Lawrence Sherdel as Celebrant. Interment will be held in St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery, Bausman, PA. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the Funeral Mass at the Church.
