Susan Mae Markley, 72, of Lancaster, passed away on Tuesday, November 6, 2018. She was the wife of the late Douglas R. Markley, who passed away in 2005. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Richard E. and Virginia Mae Rhoads Steffy. Susan had been a homemaker and was an active member of Salem Evangelical Reformed Church, Hellers, where she sang in the choir and was a Sunday School teacher. She loved taking care of others, babysitting, gardening, going to the beach in Ocean City, MD, and was a member of the Strasburg Womens Club. Her greatest treasure was her grandchildren. Susan is survived by her children: Lori A. married to J. Gordon Hitz of Lebanon and Timothy D., married to Jodi Markley of Willow Street; her six grandchildren Sylvia, Derek, Darren, Olivia, Brian, and Brooke; and her siblings Kathy Harrison, Richard E. Steffy Jr., and Joan Stolzfus. She was preceded in death by her sister, Sylvia Kreider. Friends will be received on Sunday, November 11, 2018 from 6-8PM at Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA, and again on Monday, November 12, 2018 from 10-11AM at Salem Evangelical Reformed Church, Hellers, 2555 Horseshoe Rd., Lancaster, PA, with the Funeral Service to follow at 11AM. Interment in the adjoining church cemetery.
