Susan McQueen Kurtz of Lancaster, PA died at home on Friday, May 8 ^th , 2009.

Susan was born in Lancaster on August 17, 1953.  She was the daughter of Mimi McQueen and the late James R. McQueen, Jr.  Her loving husband of 33 years, John I. Kurtz, and her son and daughter in-law, John and Becky Kurtz, survive her.  Additionally, she is survived by her four siblings and their families: Ann McQueen of Boston, Massachusetts; Jim McQueen of Boston, MA; Kathleen MacQueen and Peter and Alex Stader of Brooklyn, New York; and Henry, Diane and J. Parr McQueen of Lancaster.

Susan, known as Susie, was a graduate of Linden Hall, Lititz, PA; Pine Manor College, Chestnut Hill, MA; and, Lafayette College, Easton, PA.  Susie was a generous and caring member of the Lancaster community. A lover of the arts, gardening and a collector of dolls, she was involved in The Janus School and Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology.

The funeral service is private.  Family and friends are invited to the home of Susan and John Kurtz from 11:30-1:00, Wednesday, May 13 ^th for an informal celebration of her life.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to The Janus School, 205 Lefever Road, Mount Joy, PA 17552.
