Stephen Kepchar, Sr, 91, of Lancaster, died Sunday, January 17, 2016 at Homestead Village in Lancaster.
Born in Windber, PA, he was the husband of the late Irene (Enoch) Kepchar, who died April 1, 2015. They had been married 67 years. He was the son of the late Andro and Anna (Hritz) Kepchar.
Stephen had been employed as a maintenance supervisor for the Landis Valley Farm Museum for 20 years until his retirement. Prior to that, he worked on the production line for RCA for 20 years.
He was a proud Army Veteran of WWII, and was a member of American Legion Post #137, and a former member of the Lancaster Liederkrantz.
He was a member of Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, Lancaster. Stephen and his wife shared a love for travel, especially to Europe, and spending time with their family.
He is survived by three sons: Stephen Kepchar, Jr and his wife Veronica (Jordan) of Lititz; David A. Kepchar and his wife Barbara (Riley) of Oak Park, IL; and Robert J. Kepchar and his wife Valarie (George) of Lewes, DE; 6 grandchildren: Andrew S. Kepchar and his wife Jessica of San Antonio, TX, Sarah K. Herlihy and her husband Christopher J. of Springfield, VA, Matthew D. Kepchar and his wife Sabrina of Lisle, IL, Michael Kepchar of Naperville, IL, Alison Johanns and her husband Louis of Naperville, IL, and R. Alexander Kepchar of South Burlington, VT; 6 great-grandchildren: Drew and Brandon Kepchar, Jack and Audrey Herlihy, Caden Kepchar, and Jack Johanns; a sister, Pauline Palumbo of Windber; a sister-in-law, Margaret Enoch of Landisville; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 4 sisters: Helen Boyko, Mary Furmanchik, Anna Conjelko, and Sue Knecht; and 3 brothers: Andrew, Michael, and John Kepchar.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, January 22, 2016 at Charles F. Snyder, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz with Rev. David L. Longenecker officiating. Family and friends will be received one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial with full military honors will be in Conestoga Memorial Park. Kindly omit flowers.
