Obituary

Stephen Patrick "Pat" Meier, Sr., 85, of Lititz, passed away at Heart of Lancaster Regional Medical Center on Friday, April 29, 2016. He was the loving husband of Marjorie Lloyd Meier, to whom he was married for 57 years. Pat was born in Richmond, IN to the late Carl Henry and Johanna (Shinn) Meier.

Pat earned his BA in Physics from Earlham College, Richmond, in 1952 and started to work for RCA in Marion, IN in that same year. He was drafted into the Army in 1953 and served at Edwards Air Force Base in California and Kirtland Air Force Base in New Mexico until 1955. Pat experienced the ride of a lifetime sitting in the nose of B-50 Superfortess when the pilot flew into and below the rim of the Grand Canyon. After being honorably discharged, Pat returned to RCA and worked for the company for 41 years as technical liaison for sales of color picture tubes, eventually coming to the Lancaster plant. He traveled extensively for RCA, having visited every continent except Antarctica.

He was a member of St. James Catholic Church and the RCA Retirement Association. Pat loved travelling, photography, hunting and fishing. Known for his warm smile, sense of humor, hearty laugh and commanding voice, Pat was always a presence in the room. He was a most hospitable and kind person who was gifted at making friends and strangers feel welcome. Pat loved to recite Limericks and tell stories and jokes.
