Stephen M. Brown, aged 71, of Lancaster, passed away on Sunday, January 14, 2024, at Lancaster General Hospital. He was the son of the late G. Paul and May E. (Lavery) Brown and the beloved husband of the late Denise E. (Lapham), who passed in 2007.
Stephen graduated from J.P. McCaskey High School in 1971. He worked as a Welding Supervisor for over 26 years at High Steel before retirement. Previously, he drove bus for Conestoga Tours. Stephen was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd.
Stephen had many hobbies and interests that enriched his life. He loved raising snakes and exotic tortoises, showcasing a unique passion for the animal kingdom. Stephen enjoyed flower gardening, finding joy in cultivating natural beauty. Fishing was one of his favorite pastimes, connecting with nature and the serenity of the outdoors. He had a fondness for collecting watches and seashells, reflecting a diverse range of interests.
Stephen is survived by his daughter Elizabeth Clark, wife of Dennis, and their children: Meeghan Reider (Dennis), Lauren Ortiz (William), Zachary Clark, Sarah Clark (Jay); grandson Daymiean Brown; and siblings Cheryl Laub, Susan Kelshaw, and Kevin Brown. He was preceded in death by his son Jeremy Brown who passed on November 30 and his infant brother Michael Paul Brown.
The family extends heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the pastor and members of LCGS, staff at Susquehanna Health and Wellness Center, and the staff at Hospice and Community Care for their care and support.
Guests are invited to celebrate Stephen's life at 11 AM on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 750 Greenfield Road, Lancaster, PA 17601. Family and friends will be received from 10 AM until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
Stephen M. Brown will be remembered for his warmth, diverse interests, and the love he shared with his family. His memory will be cherished by those who knew him.
