Obituary

Stefania U. Noll, 90, of Lancaster passed away peacefully at the Conestoga View Nursing Center in Lancaster on Monday, December 4, 2017.

Born in Hazleton, PA she was the daughter of Adam and Catherine (Musial) Zarnowski and was previously married to Richard G. Noll. Stefania was a 1945 graduate of Hazleton High School and graduated as a Registered Nurse (RN) from St. Joseph's Hospital (Reading) in 1947. Her nursing career included working at St. Joseph's Hospital, Family Practice Associates, and AcuTech Medical Laboratory, all in the Reading area. She retired in 1992 as an RN with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Hospital System at Wernersville and Hamburg.

Since her retirement she dealt with both a loss of her vision due to macular degeneration and a loss of her hearing, ultimately relying upon a chochlear implant for partial restoration. Despite these challenges, Fanny lived an independent lifestyle until the age of 88 when they simply became too large. Her family and friends will remember her for her love for her family, her fiesty demeanor, her craftwork especially the knitting and crocheting, and as a lifetime fan of the New York Yankees.

She is survived by her son Gregory (Debra) Noll of Lancaster, three grandchildren – Kendra (Nicholas) Schwieso of Myersville, MD, Capt. Sean (Katherine) Noll of MCBH – Kaneohe Bay, HI, and Ian Noll of Lancaster, PA; two great-grandchildren (Augustus and Anna); and a sister Magdalin Smith of Medford, NJ. She was preceded in death by her sister Bernadine, and her brothers Anthony, Aloysuis and Edward.

The family wishes to thank the 3rd floor and 7th floor Nursing Staff at Conestoga View for their patience and care over the last year, as well as Sara at AOP (Hershey) as we worked through her challenges. As we learned, having an RN for a patient can often be a trying experience for the medical staff!

At Stefania's request, there will be no formal public service and internment will be at the family's convenience. Memorial remembrances can be made in Stefania's memory to the Lancaster Vision Corps, 244 N. Queen Street, Lancaster, PA 17603.
