Stanley B. Snyder Sr., 91, World War II veteran of Lancaster, went home to the Lord on Thursday, June 20, 2013.
Stan joined the Army six months before WWII began and received training at Hollowburg, MD where he earned a Mechanic's Badge, a Body Repair Badge, and a Corporal rating. He went overseas on the largest convoy under the command of Gen. Eisenhower and received four medals and three bronze campaign stars for the Normandy, France, and German campaigns. He was honorably discharged on Sept. 30, 1945.
A few months after being discharged he married Mary Hilbert, whose picture he carried in his wallet through the war; they were married for 67 years.
He retired in 1984 from his position as a Security Police Officer at Millersville University.
He is survived by his wife, Mary, a son Stanley Jr. married to Elizabeth Germer Snyder; a daughter Deborah Snyder married to Thomas Brosey; 3 grandchildren: Christopher, Danna and Dawn; 5 great grandchildren: Noah, Sophie, Eva, Abby, and Molly, and by his sister, Catherine Fisher. He was preceded in death by his brothers: Clyde, Paul, Raymond, and Finley, his twin; and by his sisters Edith Munro, Pearl White and Mildred Schlinkman.

A Memorial Service will be held in Stan's honor at Trinity Evangelical and Congregational Church, 322 Hershey Ave., Lancaster, PA on Monday, July 1, 2013 at 7PM with the Rev Bruce Sellers, Pastor, officiating. We celebrate Stan's joy living in Eternal Rest in Jesus' presence.
