God called Sister Faustina Marie of The Good Shepherd, OP, home to Himself on Friday, June 29, 2018. Sister died peacefully in the Lord, the love of her life, having received the Last Rites of the Church, administered by the chaplain of the monastery, Father J. Ambrose Eckinger, OP, surrounded by two nuns on June 29, 2018 at 4PM in the UMPC Lancaster Regional Hospital. Guided By Angels Ministry, led by Cass Jendzurski, comforted her in the last moments with special hymns and prayers. Sister was born Martha Mary Elizabeth David of Stephen Francis and Sophia Mary Poracky David on July 28, 1954 in Canton, OH. Sister Faustina Marie joined the community of the Dominican Nuns of The Perpetual Rosary in Lancaster on August 17, 1993 and made solemn profession on August 28, 1999 after having transferred from the Institute of Our Lady of Charity of Carrollton, OH, where she was a member for 18 years, caring for special needs children and duties of the Apostolate. For the past 25 years, Sister has faithfully served as a cheerful greeter as Portress of the monastery, as devoted Sacristan, as a good cook, and participated in various monastic duties and took delight in caring for the two monastery cats, Sammy and Pandora. The Daily Hour of Guard of The Rosary, bringing the many intentions and concerns of the world, of friends, relatives and benefactors, before The Lord, was her cherished duty and mission. Sister was preceded in death by her good parents and two siblings, Frankie and Mary Sophia David. She is survived by her three sisters: Suzanne David, Rita Stith, and Sally David plus her two nephews. The Sisters of her community wish to extend a great thank you to the doctors and nurses at UMPC for the wonderful care provide to Sister during her time there.
