Simone Cataldo, 58, of 145 Pleasant View Drive, Strasburg, passed away on Sunday, March 7, 2010, at Lancaster General Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.

He was the husband of Rosa Sanzone Cataldo, with whom he celebrated 31 years of marriage this past January 27 ^th . Born in Carini, Italy, he was the son of the late Giosfat and Anna Mannino Cataldo.

Beloved and known widely in the community as "Sam The Pizza Man", Simone was the proud owner and operator since 1981 of Pizza City in Strasburg. He was also the owner of the Pizza Box in Gap.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Simone had served in the Italian Army in his homeland prior to immigrating to the United States. Brooklyn New York served as his first home away from home until he ventured to Strasburg and laid family roots in 1981. He proudly dedicated his entire life to his family even when he fell greatly ill.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his 3 children: Anna Maria married to Claudio Picone of Lancaster, Rosaria  Cataldo, fiancée of Brian Ruiz, of Strasburg and Simone Cataldo Jr. of Strasburg; his two grandchildren Loriana and Alessandro Picone; and his 4 siblings: Rocco, Rosa, and Giuseppina Cataldo, all of Italy, and Giuseppe Cataldo of Wildwood, NJ.

Friends will be received on Tuesday, March 9, 2010 from 6-8PM at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home, 414 E. King St., Lancaster, PA with the recitation of the Rosary at 730PM. A second viewing will be held on Wednesday, March 10, 2010 from 9-10AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 119 S. Prince St., Lancaster, with the Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10AM, the Rev. Leo Goodman as Celebrant. Interment in Conestoga Memorial Park.
