Shirley M. Long, 79, died at her home in Lancaster on Thursday, November 19, 2009. She was married to Robert H. Long for 60 years.

Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Richard and  Catherine Hiltz Gerstly. Shirley worked as a hostess at the former S &  H Green Stamps Store in Lancaster for 18 ½ years. She was a member of  Grace Lutheran Church in Lancaster. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and loved the Phillies.

Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons, Robert H., Jr.,  husband of Nettie Long of Orlando, FL and Brian D. Long of Lancaster;  her daughter Gail P. Long of Lancaster; three grandchildren; two  great-grandchildren; her sister Mildred Wiggins of Lancaster and her  brother Jay R., husband of Nancy Rittenhouse of Tennessee. Her infant  daughter Patricia A. Long preceded Shirley in death.

A viewing will be take place on Tuesday from 9 to 10 AM at the Charles  F. Snyder Funeral Home, 414 E. King St., Lancaster, followed by the  funeral at 10 AM, with the Reverend Stephen P.
