Sheldon E. Bertz, Sr., 82, passed away Sunday, October 29, 2017 at Lancaster General Hospital. He was the son of the late Perry J. and Mildred (Drennen) Bertz. He was the loving husband to Clara (Lombardo) Bertz for 54 years. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Sheldon Bertz, Jr. (Debra) of Kennett Square; 2 grandsons: Joseph and Nicholas of Kennett Square; a brother Perry Bertz (Rose) of Lancaster and 2 nieces: Cindy and Cheryl. He was preceded in death by his daughter Michelle Marie Bertz. Sheldon was employed as an office manager for SS Bertz and Sons and co-owner of Bertz & Bowmaster Inc. He enjoyed playing chess, and studying ancient history and spending time with his grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11AM on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at St. Anne's Catholic Church, 929 N Duke St # 1, Lancaster, PA 17602. Friends and family will be received from 10AM to 11AM. Interment will follow at St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent to the Dominican Sisters of The Perpetual Rosary, 1834 Lititz Pike, Lancaster, PA 17601 or to St. Anne's Catholic Church, address above.
