IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sharon “Kathryn”
Doherty
August 10, 2025
Sharon "Kathryn" Doherty, 85, formerly of Bucks County, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2025.
Born in San Antonio, Texas, Kathryn was the daughter of the late Alma V. and Lillie Wafer. She earned her Bachelor's degree from Texas Woman's University and went on to build a meaningful career as a registered nurse, including her time in the Parkland Hospital Emergency Room.
While in Texas, she met and married the love of her life, Leonard Doherty, and together they shared 60 wonderful years. Kathryn enjoyed traveling, water aerobics, and reading. She treasured her years in Bucks County with her family and friends. She thought back fondly on these years often. She was also an active member of Questers, an antique study group, for 20 years. Once she and Leonard moved to Lancaster, they became members of St. Philip the Apostle Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her beloved son, David Doherty (Jenn), who passed away in 2023.
She is survived by her loving husband, Leonard; her daughter, Susan Raimondi (John); and her cherished grandchildren, Nicholas, Elizabeth, and Ella. She is also survived by her siblings, Jim Wafer (Mary Ann), Marianne Wafer (Michael Kane), and Jenny Wafer, as well as many extended family members.
Family and friends are invited to an evening viewing on Wednesday, August 13, from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home, 2421 Willow Street Pike.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, August 14, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Philip the Apostle Church, 2111 Millersville Pike, Lancaster, PA, with a time of greeting from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. prior to the Mass. Interment will take place at St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Kathryn's memory may be made to The Salvation Army.
