Savina Stankowski passed away peacefully on Thursday 04/02/2020 at the age of 96 years old where she resided at Hamilton Arms Center in Lancaster, PA. She was born on January 11, 1924 in Rome, Italy to Francesco and Maria (Zampetti) Ferretti. Savina was raised and educated in Rome, Italy where she completed school. Savina was married in Rome, Italy to Lawrence H. Stankowski and then came to the United States after WWII ended n 1945, she was considered a War Bride at that time. In her later years a documentary was made on War Brides where she talked about her experiences of coming to the United States, got her citizenship and learned English. Once in Lancaster, PA she met several Italian friends whom she stayed friends for over 70 years, her first job was helping in the making of umbrellas, then when her two children attended St. Mary's grade school she found employment serving lunch to the children. Savina then later was employed at the Host Town where she was a Pantry Chef for several years and then relocated to the Treadway Inn in Lancaster where eventually she retired after several years of employment. But, most of her early years were spent as a homemaker raising her two children. Her interest varied, she loved to walk and dance, garden and the best Italian cook! Savina was a devote Catholic and a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church for most of her life. Throughout her life she was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she loved everyone and would do anything for them, she will be missed by everyone.
Savina is survived by her two children, Mary (Stankowski) Frank, wife of Jeffrey L. Frank and son Larry Stankowski Jr. Savina is also survived by two grandchildren Craig Rudy and Anthony Frank. In Rome, Italy she is survived by relatives Guido Prosperi, Simona Prosperi, Frederico Prosperi, Alfonso Di Christofano and relatives in the States Bernice and Art Kickbusch family and Violet Grapha Woodell family. Savina will be preceded in death by her husband Lawrence H. Stankowski and her granddaughter Lisa Marie Frank, her brother Guiseppe Ferretti and niece Gabriella Prosperi.
Graveside services will be held privately at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Lancaster, PA.
