Obituary

Sarah "Sally" Louise Liebendorfer, 90, of Lancaster, passed away on Monday, January 9, 2012 at her home at Willow Valley.  Born in Clifton, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Clara (Van Kirk) Verrinder.  Sally was the loving wife to the late Robert E. Liebendorfer who passed away in 2003 after 59 years of marriage to Sally.

Sally had a heart that knew no bounds. In addition to raising her own seven children, over the years she also welcomed into her family many others who found themselves in need of a loving home at one time or another. Understandably a very busy homemaker, she nevertheless always found time to be a volunteer extraordinaire, contributing her time and her heart not only to her own children's activities but also various community and church endeavors, most notably to Head Start in the Philadelphia area, Catholic Charities and Our Daily Bread in the Baltimore area, and St Joseph's Hospital in Lancaster. Her life was ever grounded in her faith and giving to others. Always active, she loved skiing, swimming, tennis, and dancing with her husband Robert. And together they traveled the world during their retirement years.

Sally is survived by her 7 children: Richard Liebendorfer of Mankato, MN; Paul Liebendorfer, husband of Maxine of Carson City, NV; Mark Liebendorfer of Boulder, CO; Clare Leary, wife of Joseph of Calabash, NC; John Liebendorfer of Albuquerque, NM; David Liebendorfer of San Francisco, CA; and Kurt Liebendorfer, husband of Kim of Frederick, MD.  She was the proud grandmother of 8 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and 1 step granddaughter.  She was preceded in death by 2 brothers Albert and Komer Verrinder, and a sister Mary Verrinder.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12 PM on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, 2111 Millersville Pike, Lancaster, PA 17603 with Rev. Mark E. Weiss as Celebrant.  Family and friends will be received from 11-12 PM at church.  Interment will be at Wurtemburg Cemetery at the convenience of the family.  In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Catholic Charities, 925 N. Duke St., Lancaster, PA 17602 or St Josephs Indian School, P.O. Box 100, Chamberlain SD 57325  (www.stjo.org).  To send the family online condolences, please visit SnyderFuneralHome.com. Charles F.
