Sandra "Sandy" E. Townsend, 78, of Lancaster, passed away Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late David M. and Florence E. (Shomo) Keener. She was married to John "Jack" H. Townsend, Jr. for nine years prior to his death in 1977.

Sandy retired from Homestead Village in 2012. An animal lover, she was devoted to her many dogs, including two "rescues", over her lifetime.

Surviving Sandy are her sisters Brenda Keener of Lancaster and Diane Keener of East Petersburg and cousins.

The funeral will be held on Monday, July 14 at 11:00 am at the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543, with a visitation from 10:30 to 11:00 am. Private interment in Meadowridge Memorial Park in Elkridge, MD.
