Sandra "Sandy"
Behmer
February 10, 1947 – June 10, 2026
Sandra “Sandy” Behmer, 79 of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, passed away on June 10, 2026, after a courageous five-year journey with Parkinson’s disease. Born on February 10, 1947, in Ephrata, Pennsylvania, Sandy spent most of her life in Lancaster County, where she built a home full of warmth, love, and the unmistakable smell of something good on the stove.
Sandy married the love of her life, Nelson Behmer, on Christmas Eve 1968, a date as meaningful as the woman herself. Together they raised two sons, Drew and Shane, and built a life centered on family, faith, and hard work.
A devoted homemaker, Sandy poured her heart into her family. For many years she also worked alongside Nelson at Keystone Peterbilt where she helped run the PacLease division, a role that reflected both her sharp mind and her dedication to the family she loved. Whether at home or at work, she showed up fully for the people who counted on her.
Sandy had an infectious smile and a warm, outgoing personality that drew people to her instantly. She had a gift for making everyone she met feel welcome and at ease—a room was simply brighter when Sandy was in it.
Her strong faith in Jesus Christ was the foundation of her life and the quiet strength that carried her through her final years with grace and dignity.
She cherished time at Hilton Head Island, where she could be found walking the beach, eyes down, hunting for the perfect seashell. Unhurried, at peace, exactly where she loved to be.
Sandy is survived by her husband, Nelson; her sons, Drew (Kerri) and Shane (Kaitlin); her grandchildren, Blaikley (Will Rothfus), Bryce, and Cole; and all who were fortunate enough to call her family.
She is gone from our sight, but not from our hearts, and her faith assures those who loved her that this is not goodbye.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Sandy’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
