Sandra E. Allen, 68, of Parkside Ave., Lancaster, died Monday, October 30, 2006 at Lancaster General Hospital after a long illness.

Born in Portland, Maine, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Debora Dewitt Ellingwood. She was the loving wife of Anthony J. Allen. They celebrated their 44 ^th wedding anniversary on Sept. 24 ^th .

Mrs. Allen was a graduate of Temple University with a degree in English and Psychology. She was active in forming the Lancaster Arthritis Foundation in the early 1960s. Sandra was a substitute teacher for various catholic schools in the area. She was the Past President of the East Lancaster Twp. Civic Committee and a Republican Committee Woman of the 4 ^th District of Lancaster Twp. Sandra was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church.  She enjoyed cooking.

Surviving in addition to her husband are three sister-in-laws: Rose Boito of Dean, Ann Schreiber of Altoona, and Virginia Graham of Florida; and her nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 501 E. Orange St., Lancaster, on Thursday, November 2, at 11AM. Friends will be received at the church from 10AM until the time of service. Interment in Calvary Cemetery, Altoona, on Friday. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made in Sandra's memory to the Arthritis Foundation, 3544 North Progress Avenue, Suite 204, Harrisburg, PA 17110 or the American Heart Association, 610 Community Way, Lancaster, PA 17603.
