Ruth W. Montgomery, 91, formerly of Conestoga, died on Jan. 20, 2017 at Brethren Village, where she had been a resident for nearly five years. She was a longtime domestic worker and lived more than 50 years on Main Street in Conestoga. She was the widow of Kenneth B. Montgomery, who died in 1995. She enjoyed doing needlework, watching game shows – especially Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune – and bowled for many years on the Kready Avenue Church League at Leisure Lanes. Her summer evenings often were spent watching her beloved Phillies on TV. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Witmer Buckwalter and Emma Lefever Witmer Hess. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles R. Hess and George R. Hess, and a sister, M. Jane Montgomery. She is survived by two sons, Randall L. Montgomery, husband of Jane, Ephrata, and Robert K. Montgomery, husband of Jill, Millersville. Also four grandchildren: Lauren, wife of Paden Smith, of Mountville; Brian Montgomery, husband of Aubrey, of Mount Joy; Kayla Montgomery, of Marietta, and Kevin Montgomery, of Astoria, NY; a great-granddaughter, Avery Montgomery, daughter of Brian and Aubrey, of Mount Joy; and a great-granddaughter on the way (Lauren and Paden). Ruth will be laid to rest at the church's cemetery beside her husband.
