Ruth Helen Mercado, 90, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully at Hospice & Community Care – Mt. Joy on April 26, 2019. Born in Manheim, she was the daughter of the late Charles B. and Anna V. (Young) Rettew and the wife of the late Ovidio Mercado Sr, who passed in 2016.

A baseball fan, Ruth enthusiastically rooted for the Philadelphia Phillies. She loved sweets, especially cheesecake, which always satisfied her sweet tooth. Ruth loved her family and cherished every moment she got to spend with them. Her grandchildren made her smile from ear to ear. Ruth was a devout member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness – Eastern Congregation and greatly enjoyed visits from her sisters from the Hall.

Ruth is survived by two sons; Ovidio Mercado Jr and his wife Angela, of Fredericksburg, VA, and Rickey Mercado and his wife Meg, of Lancaster, PA. She is also survived by five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and a sister, Donna Peters. She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Anna Rettew, her beloved husband of 55 years, Ovidio, a son, David Mercado, and her siblings; Charles Rettew Jr, P. Robert Rettew, Eugene Rettew, and Joanne Shaffer.

A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at 1:30pm at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, located at 850 Hershey Ave. Lancaster PA 17603. Kindly omit flowers.
