Ruth Elizabeth Elsen, 95, of Lancaster, passed away at home, Tuesday, June 11, 2019. Born in Hagerstown, MD, she was the daughter of the late Edgar L. and Mary Viola (Johnson) Dietrich. She was the wife of the late Earl H. Elsen, who died in 1989.

Ruth worked as a bookkeeper for L.B. Herr, Lancaster. Of the Christian faith, she was a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church. She was an avid reader and enjoyed bowling with a church league. Ruth's children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the most important part of her life.

Ruth is survived by her two children: Barbara Elsen, of Lancaster and Earl H. "Butch" Elsen, II, husband of Linda Root; five grandchildren: Jennifer Byers, wife of Carl, Kerry Gomez, wife of Elmer, Keith Elsen, Jennifer Russell, and Jill Root; eight great-grandchildren; and seven great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters.

Memorial Services for Ruth will be held at 11AM, on Saturday, June 22, 2019, at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, 700 Pleasure Rd., Lancaster, PA 17601. Family and friends will be received at the church from 10AM to 11AM. Interment at Riverview Burial Park, Lancaster will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Ruth's memory may be made to St. Matthew's Lutheran Church at the address above.
