Roy E. Rodger, 91, of Lititz, passed away Saturday, August 6, 2016. He was born in Windber, PA to the late George E. & Mabel (Gillespie) Rodger. He was the loving husband to the late Harriet R. Fouse, who passed away on January 9, 2012. Roy was raised in Aliquippa, PA where he met the love of his life, Harriet, who lived only 5 houses away from him. He enlisted in the Army Air Corp while in High School. Upon graduation he entered the service. He completed Aviation Cadet Training and was commissioned a 2nd Lt. Roy flew the single engine P-40 and P-51 Fighter Aircraft. He loved flying the P-51. After discharge from the service, he enrolled at Carnegie Tech where he studied Electrical Engineering. He and Harriet were married on Sept 27, 1947. They enjoyed 64 years together. He was employed by J&L Steel in Pittsburgh, DuPont in New Jersey and Armstrong World Industries in Lancaster, PA. His career took him to many parts of the US as well as England and Germany. Roy retired as Gen. Mgr. Engineering Purchasing.

He and Harriet loved to travel especially in Western US & Canada. Roy served on the Lititz Water Treatment Board for 30 years. Roy loved spending time with his family, especially during the holidays.

Roy is preceded in death by a grandson, Nick Berkey who died in a cabin fire on March 22, 1998. Roy is survived by his children: Fred Rodger (Regina) of Strasburg and Mary Lou Berkey of Lititz, his grandchildren: Steve of Lancaster, Rich of Phoenixville, Mike (Carrie) of York, PA, Abby Southwick (Matt) of Lithia, FL and Jill of Lancaster; great-grandchildren: Shaydon, Mattie and Alex and Riley.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Nick Berkey Memorial Baseball Scholarship Fund: Edward Jones Co. 10 Highland Drive, Suite 202. Lititz, PA 17543. Interment will be private.
