Obituary

Roy K. Duke, Sr., 94, of Millersville, died on Friday, July 22, at Hamilton Arms.  Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Harvey L. and Minnie (Kreider) Duke.  He was married for 68 years to the late E. Margaret (Cox) Duke who passed away on October 8, 2009.

He was a 1935 graduate of Old Boys High of Lancaster.  Roy retired in 1981 as supervisor of Specialty Screws Products of Lancaster.

He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, a member of the Lancaster Elks BPOE #134, and was a founding member of the Conestoga Country Club.  Roy enjoyed playing cards, woodworking, home improvements, and gardening.  He was an avid golfer and Philadelphia sports fan. He loved spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his daughter, Gwendolyn D. Wheatly wife of William R of Lancaster and a son Roy K. Duke, Jr. husband of Judy A of Lancaster.  He will be missed by his four grandchildren, William D. and Brian K. Wheatly, Marylynne and Todd A. Duke.  He was the last sibling of ten children.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral service on Friday, July 29, 2011 at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 414 East King Street Lancaster 17602 at 10 am with Rev. Karl Crouch officiating. Friends will be received at the Funeral Home from 9 am to 10 am.  Following the service, interment will be at Mellingers Mennonite Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks for contributions to be made in Roy's name to Hospice of Lancaster 685 Good Dr. Box 4125 Lancaster, PA 17604-4125 hospiceoflancaster.org.  To send an online condolence or for more information please visit SnyderFuneralHome.com.
