Ronald L. “Butch” Groff, 86, of Lancaster passed away Sunday, April 26, 2026, at Hospice & Community Care. Born in New Danville, PA, he was the son of the late Lewis and Kathryn (Rudy) Groff. He was the loving husband of Helen (McDwyer) Groff with whom he shared over 67 years of marriage.

He was a 1957 graduate of JP McCaskey High School. Butch worked as an operations manager for Georgia Pacific Corp. for over 37 years. He later worked for the Manheim Auto Auction and North Pacific Lumber before retiring in 2005.

Butch was an avid hunter and fisherman. His ultimate love was for steelhead fly fishing. He was a proud US Air Force veteran. A longtime member of Lancaster Road Runners. At age 47 he accomplished his goal of completing the Marine Corps. Marathon in Washington, D.C.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Tina Dougherty, wife of William “Bill” of Mt. Gretna, PA and Lori Groff of Lancaster, PA. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Lewis, Walter, and sister, Joanne Lefever.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11AM on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at Charles F. Snyder III Funeral Home & Crematory, 2421 Willow Street Pike, Willow Street, PA 17584. Interment will follow in Mellinger Mennonite Cemetery, Lancaster. Family and friends will be received from 10-11AM at the funeral home on Tuesday.
