Roger Francois Asso Sr., 78 of Lancaster passed away peacefully with his Wife and 2 Daughters by his side on August 25, 2023.
Roger was born in Surrey, England in 1945 to the late Iris (Slater) Asso and F. Paul Asso.
Roger was the beloved Husband of Joan (Mowery) Asso. They were married 58 years on August 28, 2023. Beloved Father of 8 children, Roger Jr., Eric, Kim, Mark, Lee, Seth, Mary Ann, and Rose.
Grandfather of 36 grandchildren and 7 Great- grandchildren. Roger was a Graduate of Thaddeus Stevens Trade School for Carpentry and worked in the field for 50 plus years.
He honorably served in the Vietnam War. Roger also received a draft notice from the French Army that time as well due to dual citizenship.
Roger loved all things outdoors. He was passionate about taking his family camping, hiking, fishing, and hunting. He taught his family how to survive in the wilderness. Roger loved to take beach vacations with his family as well especially to Rehoboth and OCNJ.
Roger also watched Sasquatch videos with his son and grandsons.
Roger was an assistant Scout Master for 8 years with Troop 24.
He was loved by many children in the neighborhood because of his willingness to help them.
He taught his kids extreme generosity. Roger's family remembers him as being fearless, selfless, caring, and devoted. Roger had an amazing sense of humor till the end.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, August 31st 2023 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 558 W. Walnut Street, Lancaster, PA 17603. Viewing begins at 10am. Funeral Mass begins at 11am. Interment will immediately follow at St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery.
A Letter to our DAD. Dad Thank You. Thank you for teaching us kindness. Thank you for teaching us honesty. Thank you for teaching us honor and loyalty. Thank you Dad for teaching us extreme generosity. Dad you taught us survival skills in nature and life. Thank you Dad for showing us how to love and give selflessly and be amazing parents. Thank you for this Dad and so much more. We love you and can never repay you or say it again. Just Thank You. Love, Your Children.
