Obituary

Rocco Raymond Abessinio, 56, of 2459 Gamber Road, Washington Boro, died Wednesday night, March 1, 2006, at his home.

Born in Wilmington DE., he was the son of Edith Mele Abessinio of Wilmington DE. and the late  Vito Abessinio.  Rocco was the husband of Linda Anne Schwartz Abessinio and they were married for 31 years.

Mr. Abessinio was a blacksmith and owner of Brandywine Ironworks, since 1987. Previously he worked at Franklin and Marshall College for 12 years in the Psychology  Department. He was a graduate of the University of Delaware  with a degree in Animal Science, and was a member of St.  Philip Catholic Church in Lancaster. Mr. Abessinio enjoyed his work, riding his motorcycle, being with family and friends.  He loved animals, especially his dog, Caesar, and his cat, Tinker.

Surviving besides his wife and mother, is a daughter Cristina Lynn Abessinio at home; two brothers, his twin brother, Dr. Francis, husband of Marna Abessinio of Wilmington, DE, and Dr. Phillip, husband of Dr. Carole Abessinio of Lattingtown, NY; and a sister, Carmella Abessinio of Tampa, FL; seven nieces and three nephews.

Funeral Service will be held at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, 2111 Millersville Pike, Lancaster, PA, on Monday at 11:00 a.m. Entombment will be private. Friends may pay their respects to the family at the Church on Monday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Flowers will be received or contributions may be made in Rocco's memory to The Humane League of Lancaster County, 2195 Lincoln Highway East, Lancaster, PA 17602.
