Robert A. O'Donnell, 87, of Lancaster, passed away Monday, March 25, 2013 at Lancaster General Hospital.

Born in Pittsburgh, he was the husband of Jane (Flowers) O'Donnell of Lancaster, and the son of the late Raymond and Mae (Boettner) O'Donnell.

Besides his family, his greatest joy in life was spending time on the water with his family and friends.  He enjoyed golf and was an active volunteer with Schreiber Pediatric Rehab.

After college he and a good friend moved to Florida where he lived for a number of years and met his first wife, Dorothy, with whom he had six children.  He and his family moved to Lititz in 1969.

He lived for a number of years in Pittsburgh, where he worked as a salesman for Firestone Tire & Rubber.  He also worked as a salesman for Lebzelter's until his retirement.  After retiring, he was a messenger for CoreStates Bank and a courtesy shuttle driver for Jones Pontiac.

Robert was a Navy veteran of WWII, and was a member of Knights of Columbus, 3 ^rd Degree.  He attended LCBC church.

In addition to his wife of 14 years, he is survived by his children:  Deborah Shope and her husband Robert; Diane Gordon and her husband Mike; Barbara Behm and her husband Randy; Robert A. O'Donnell II and his wife Kathy, and Carol O' Donnell; a stepdaughter, Jodi Cunningham and her husband Dan; a son-in-law, Richard Waltz; 15 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy (Lauffle) O'Donnell; a daughter, Kathy Waltz; two brothers:  Raymond and Richard (Murph); and a grandson, Jared Behm.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Monday, April 1, 2013 at Charles F. Snyder, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz with Clair McCormick officiating.  The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 11 at the funeral home prior to the service.  Burial will be private.
