Robert S. (Bob) McGeown passed away on Sunday, February 21, 2010 at the ManorCare Health Services in Lancaster. Bob was born April 26, 1927 in the Bronx, NY and lived in Teaneck, Bergenfield & Morristown, NJ and Lancaster, PA. He was married to Margaret (Peg) McGeown. They would have celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary on April 18th.
Bob was a son of Charlotte and Stephen McGeown. He was a graduate of St Cecilia High School, Englewood, NJ and Seton Hall University, South Orange, NJ. Bob was in the US Navy from 1945 to 1947. He worked for RCA in Harrison, NJ, Lancaster, PA and Somerville, NJ. He also worked for the Rockefeller Group in Flanders, NJ. Bob loved cars and over the years worked for several automobile agencies in NJ.
In addition to his wife, he leaves his brother Dr. John R. McGeown(Mary) of Mantoloking, NJ, his sister Betty Ann Uhlmann (Al) of Packanack Lake, NJ, a cousin Bill Clancy, FL, a sister-in-law, Jacquelyn Gibbs, VA, and many nieces and nephews.
Bob was a member of St John Neumann Church, Lancaster. Bob and Peg were active members of the Historic Preservation Trust of Lancaster County.
** SCHEDULE CHANGE ** A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, March 1, 2010 at St. John Neumann Catholic Church 601 E. Delp Rd. Lancaster 17601 at 12 noon. Family and friends will be received on Friday, February 26, 2010 at the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home and Chapel 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz 17543 from 3 p.m.-6:30 p.m. Interment will be Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at Holy Rood Cemetery, Morristown, N.J. at 1 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the Alzheimer's Assoc., American Heart Assoc. or a charity of your choice. Bob's family would like to thank the staff at ManorCare for the care of and concern shown for Bob and his family. They could not have been kinder or more loving, making a very difficult time much easier to bear.
