Robert C. Markley, 93, of Lancaster, formerly a resident of 55 years of Willow Street, PA, passed away on August 6, 2016 at Conestoga View Nursing Home. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Paris and Anna Mary (Balmer) Markley. A veteran, he served in the United States Marines during WWII. Robert retired from Hamilton Watch as a Master Watch Maker. He was also employed by various jewelry stores in Lancaster and various states. Robert was an avid golfer. Surviving are 3 children: Cheryn Dettrey, wife of Robert of New Providence, PA, Siri Tanqert of Lancaster, PA, and Scott Markley, husband of Julie of Drumore, PA; 4 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild; and 4 siblings: Eugene Markley of Lancaster, PA, Anna Mary Weaver of Marietta, PA, Helen Kauffman, wife of Harold of Willow Street, PA, and Nancy Moore, wife of James of Ephrata, PA. Robert was preceded in death by siblings: William Markley, Harold Markley, Gerald Markley and Doris Schlegmilch. Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
