IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert J.
Lukacs
January 4, 2026
Robert J. "Bob" Lukacs, of Strasburg, passed away at his home on January 4, 2026. He was 78. Born in Fords, New Jersey, he was the middle son of the late William and Violet (Dworak) Lukacs. Standing by his side for over 50 years was his devoted wife Patricia "Pat" (Sheridan) Lukacs.
Bob's journey began when he enlisted in the United States Army in May of 1966, serving his country with honor during the Vietnam War until his discharge in April 1968, achieving the rank of Specialist Fourth Class.
Bob was widely known for his jovial spirit and his unwavering love for his family. He took immense joy in being an active participant in his grandchildren's lives, rarely missing a sporting event and always cheering the loudest from the sidelines.
An avid fan of the New York Yankees, Bob had a deep appreciation for everything from the lively tunes of the '50s to classic cars. His passion for antique cars wasn't just a hobby; it was a way of life. An award-winning collector and tinkerer, Bob could often be found under the hood of a classic beauty, bringing it back to life while reminiscing about the good old days. Many will remember Bob as the owner and operator of Hub Cap Paradise in Lancaster, for over 20 years. He also loved expanding his collection of vinyl records, filling his home with the sweet sounds of history.
Known for his kindness and generosity, Bob had a heart as big as his collection of vintage automobiles. A proud member of Gap VFW Post 7418, he played a crucial role in organizing and fundraising for the annual antique car show, bringing the community together in celebration of their shared passions.
Bob's memory will be treasured by all who knew him including his wife Pat; their children, Kim, wife of Ronald Lipp of Red Bank, NJ, and Eric Lukacs, husband of Colleen of Strasburg; grandchildren, Olivia Lipp, Alex Lukacs, and Jackson Lukacs; a great granddaughter, Grace; and siblings, Karen Machalaba (John), Gary Lukacs (Geri), and Kenneth Lukacs (Jean). He was preceded in passing by his parents, and a brother, William "Bill" Lukacs.
The family will greet guests at the Bachman Snyder Funeral Home, 7 S. Decatur St., Strasburg, PA 17579, on Monday, January 12, 2026, from 10:20 AM – 12:30 PM. A Funeral Service honoring Bob will begin at 12:30 PM. A private interment will take place at Strasburg Mennonite Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are encouraged to be sent to the Gap VFW Post 7418, 4988 Lincoln Hwy East, Kinzers, PA 17535.
