“Larry” Potts

Robert L. "Larry" Potts, 74, of Millersville, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, July 8, 2018, at Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Wilmington, DE, he was the son of the late Lt. Col. Robert C. Potts and Dorothy (Counahan) Potts. He was the beloved husband of Pupung "Mia" Potts, with whom he celebrated over 20 years of marriage. Larry enlisted in the US Army and honorably served his country during the Vietnam War. He attended Loyola College in Maryland where he majored in Political Science and minored in Philosophy. For many years, he worked for Chase Manhattan as a Credit Officer. Larry was an avid football fan, especially for the Steelers and Giants. He was a member of the St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church. Larry enjoyed living and traveling internationally. He had a passion for SCUBA diving and particularly enjoyed his beach trips to the Cayman Islands and Bali. Most of all, he enjoyed working hard and his taking care of his family. In addition to his wife Mia, Larry is survived by his children: Marcy Lynn Helmstetter (Bill) of Chatham, NJ, R. Matthew Potts (Heather) of Baltimore, MD, Cynthia Maureen Swenson (Darin) of Montana, Michael E. Potts of Daytona Beach, FL and C. Curtis Potts of Millersville, PA; his grandchildren: Kaitlyn, Thomas, Daniel and Emily; his siblings: Michael (Lynn) Potts of Kennett Square, Sarah (John) Voll of Washington DC, and Deborah (Bernie) Novgorodoff of Louisville, KY as well as several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 13, 2018, at 11:00 AM at St. Philips the Apostle Church, 2111 Millersville Pike, Lancaster, PA 17603. Friends and family will be received on Thursday from 6:00-8:00PM at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory, 414 E. King Street, Lancaster, PA 17602. Interment will be private following the Funeral Mass at Newark Rural Cemetery, Newark, DE. Memorial contributions in Larry's memory may be offered to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, https://www.stjude.org/ , PA Wounded Warriors, 1117 Country Club Road Camp Hill, PA 17011.
