IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert L.
Henkel
August 1, 2017
Robert L. Henkel, 89, known to many as "Bo-Bo", a long-time resident of St. Joseph Street (Cabbage Hill) in Lancaster, passed away on Tuesday, August 1, 2017 with family by his side. Born in Lancaster, he was one of ten children born to the late J. Herbert Henkel and Margaret C. Kaetz Henkel, and the last surviving sibling. A member of the U.S. Army Reserve, Robert honorably served his country from 1950 to 1952 during the Korean War. Robert worked in several production departments of Hamilton Watch Company in Lancaster, retiring after 48 years of service. He was a lifetime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Lancaster. He traveled extensively with his sister, Catherine and was always more than happy to help drive his family and friends to any destination they needed to go. He enjoyed playing golf, bowling, shooting pool, and especially loved going to the horse tracks. Robert was a Notre Dame College football fan and never missed watching or listening to a game. He also enjoyed his sweet treats, ice cream and coffee and he was rarely seen without a pack Tastykakes or Life savers. Robert is survived by nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, great-great grandnieces and great-great grandnephews. He was especially close to his beloved nephew, Joe Gaenzle, who he lovingly referred to as, "Joey." The two shared many humorous, interesting, mischievous adventures together. Robert -"Bo-Bo" was a very unique, yet simple happy man and he will be deeply missed by all. He was predeceased by brothers Paul, John and Herbert, and sisters, Lucille, Mildred, Joan, Mary, Catherine and Florita. Family will greet friends from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral mass at 11:00 AM on Monday, August 7, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 440 Saint Joseph Street, Lancaster, PA 17603. Interment will follow at St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery. At Robert's request, in lieu of flowers, contributions towards funeral expenses may be made to the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home, 414 East King Street, Lancaster, PA, 17602.
