Robert (Bob) F. Pegoretti passed away peacefully on October 4, 2017 at St. Anne's Retirement Community with his family by his side. Bob was born in 1927 in Atlas, PA to Louis and Anna (Pinamonti) Pegoretti. He married Mary (Mae Leonard) Pegoretti on June 10, 1950.
Bob attended Township High School in Locust Gap, PA. He was a U.S. Army veteran who served in WWII in occupied Germany. He retired from Armstrong World Industries in 1989 where he worked for 42 years, most recently as Chief Inspector in the Quality Control Department. He also retired from the PA Liquor Control Board in 1991 where he worked for over 20 years. Bob and his wife were members of The Italian Cultural Society and Guys & Dolls. He was a member of the American Legion and a supporter of the NRA.
He was a devout Catholic who was a long-time member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Lancaster where he served as an usher and on various other committees. He volunteered at the church bingo for 32 years, where he enjoyed calling out the winning numbers. Bob loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting at every opportunity. He was a diehard Philadelphia Eagles and Flyers fan.
Bob was predeceased by all 11 of his siblings. He is survived by his wife, Mae, of 67 years, two daughters, Terry (Teresa) Shelly, wife of David, Manheim, Joy Sharp, wife of Tony, Landisville. Also by two grandchildren, Lauren Mae Grishin, wife of Artem, Tannersville, NY and Matthew Robert Shelly, husband of Tenisha, Bainbridge, and boy and girl twin great-grandchildren, Jane Mae and Nikolai Michael Grishin.
Bob was a loving, supportive and devoted husband, a strong, caring father and a dedicated and fun-loving Pappap to his grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30am on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, 501 E. Orange St., Lancaster, PA 17602 with Rev. Daniel O'Brien as Celebrant. The family will welcome visitors at the church from 10:30 to 11:30AM, Mass will begin at 11:30AM. Interment will be at St. Anthony's Cemetery following the church service.
