Robert R. "Bob" Long, Jr., 66, of Lititz, PA passed away peacefully on October 13, 2015 with his wife and family at his side at Hospice & Community Care, Mount Joy, PA. He was born in Lancaster to D. Audrey (Rittenhouse) Kelley and the late Robert "Charlie" R. Long and was the husband of Kim (Nace) Long, with whom he celebrated 18 years of marriage on October 4th. He was a graduate of McCaskey High School and Elizabethtown College. Bob was self-employed as a tax accountant operating as Long & Associates for many years. He was in the U.S. Army serving in the Vietnam War as a high speed Morse code translator and was a member of the American Legion Post #34. He loved cooking especially making treats for his friends at the Post, watching Notre Dame Football and college basketball, playing pool and traveling with his wife to new places. In addition to his mother and wife, he is survived by a daughter, Amanda C. Helwig wife of Dann of Mt. Rainier, OR, 2 grandchildren, Dakota of Lancaster and Emma of OR, one brother, Randy Kelley of Lancaster, Sherrie Kelley of Springfield, MA, and Cathie Kelley-Musser wife of Brian of Marietta, PA. The family would like to thank all the staff at Hospice and the nurses on 7 Lime for the love and care that they gave Bob and his family. Friends will be received from 6-8PM on Sunday, October 18, 2015 at the Charles F. Snyder, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543 and again on Monday from 12-1PM with a funeral service to follow at 1PM. Interment at Ironville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Bob's memory may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
