“Bob” Brandt

Robert D. "Bob" Brandt, 91, of Millersville, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 17, 2018 at Mennonite Home Communities, Lancaster. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late William S. Brandt and Gertrude I. (George) Brandt Beard, and the step-son of the late Charles L. Beard. Surviving is his wife of 67 years, Helen E. (Marshall) Brandt. Bob was a 1944 graduate of J.P. McCaskey High School. Following graduation he joined the US Navy and honorably served his country during WWII. Bob was Secretary-Treasurer of the C.B. Tool Company, Lancaster, from which he retired after many years of service. Bob enjoyed fishing and hunting at his cabin in Bedford, PA, air shows, and going to the movies. He was a humble and practical man who, aside from a penchant for cars, rarely splurged on himself and will always be remembered for his caring and generous spirit. In addition to his beloved wife, Bob is survived by his daughters, Cynthia A. Brandt, Lancaster, and Carole S. Brandt Glatfelter, Lancaster. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Matthew R. Glatfelter, husband of Brittany, Wayne, PA, and Daniel T. Glatfelter, Burbank, CA; and a nephew, Donald B. Brandt. In addition to his parents, Bob was predeceased by his brother, William G. Brandt. The family would like to give special thanks to the loving, caring and devoted staff of the Mennonite Home Communities, especially at Eshelman Run as well as to Hospice and Community Care. Family and friends are invited to attend funeral services which will be held at 11 AM. on Thursday, August 30, 2018 at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home, 414 East King Street, Lancaster, where a viewing will be held from 10 – 11 AM. Interment will follow at St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery, Bausman. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Bob's memory may be made to the Mennonite Home Communities Benevolent Fund, 1520 Harrisburg Pike, Lancaster, PA 17601, or to ORCA (The Organization for Responsible Care of Animals), 401 East Orange Street, Lancaster, PA 17602.
