Rita M. Glassmyer, 96, died Thursday, October 14, 2010 at the Mt. Hope Nazarene Retirement Community. Rita formerly lived with her daughter and son-in-law in Manheim and in Lancaster prior to that.

Born in Summerdale, PA, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Edith Birely McDougal. Her husband of 62 years David W. Glassmyer died in 1995.

A homemaker, Rita worked a short time for RCA and Schick in Lancaster. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Rita enjoyed crocheting, knitting, sewing, cooking and reading.

Rita is survived by her children, David Paul, husband of Nellie Glassmyer, Ocala, FL and Debra Ann, wife of Michael C. Rhoads, Sr., Manheim, 7 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren. Her sisters Grace Gigl and Claire Reincke and a great-great granddaughter preceded Rita in death.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at 11AM with The Rev. Joseph C. Hilbert as Celebrant. There will be a calling time at the church on Tuesday from 10-11AM. Interment in St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery. Please omit flowers. Contributions can be made in Rita's memory to Mt.
