Rippey D. Franciscus, 87 of Lancaster passed away Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at Harrisburg Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was the loving husband of Joan (Young) Franciscus with whom he celebrated 61 years of marriage with last May. Born in Carlisle, PA he was the son of the late Charles and Annie Mae (Behrens) Franciscus.
A proud WWII veteran, serving with the 1 st division in the USMC, he served during the Iwo Jima and Peleliu campaigns. He had worked for Look Magazine as a salesman for many years, retiring from there after 50 years of service. He was an avid NASCAR, football, baseball fan and especially a big Phillies fan. He was a member of the local VFW and also enjoyed constructing things.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: A daughter, Robin Maguire, wife of Roger of Conestoga; 2 sons: Steve Franciscus, husband of Kathy of Mechanicsburg, Tony Franciscus, husband of Mary of West Grove, PA. Also surviving is a sister, Mary of FL; 6 grandchildren, one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his 11 siblings.
A Time of Remembrance will be held from 1-2PM, Saturday, December 8, 2012 at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 414 E. King St., Lancaster, PA 17602. Interment with full Military Honors will be held in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA at the convenience of the family. Flowers will be received.
