Richard J. Smith, 99, of Lancaster, PA passed away on August 3, 2015 at Manor Care, Lancaster. Born, November 10, 1915, in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Paul C. Smith and Mabel (Kendig) Smith. He was the husband of Beatrice (Young) Smith with whom he celebrated his 72nd wedding anniversary last September 21st.

Richard served in the US Army Air Corps from 1941-1945. He was employed at John I. Nissly Sign Co. for 30 years as a sign painter.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are his three children: Paul Smith, husband of Candace, of Washington Boro; David Smith, of Columbia; and Deborah Hamilton, wife of Randy, of Lititz; 3 grandchildren, 2 great-grandsons, two step great-granddaughters, 2 step great-great-grandsons; and a niece, Jane McCann of Audobon, PA. He was preceded in death by his sister, Helen Heistand and niece, Elaine Trainer. A private family interment will take place at Greenwood Cemetery, Lancaster.
