Richard, or as he preferred, "Sparky," passed away suddenly on Tuesday, June 20, 2017, surrounded by family and friends. Born in Virginia Beach, VA, Sparky was a long-time resident of the Tri-County area. He attended Milton Hershey School where he cultivated his closest lifelong friends. Sparky enlisted in the Marines and when he returned, worked for the Lancaster New Era and continued to add to his collection of lifelong friends. Lancaster was where he met the love of his life, Cathryn. Hardworking and always looking for an opportunity, he joined a construction company in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, afterwards, he created his own highly successful company, STRONGBACK Renovation Specialist. Sparky was always dedicated to wife, Cathryn, his mother, Mary Louise, who recently passed away, his sister, Susan, and his brother Stephen. A special man with a huge heart, Sparky continued to be a part of the lives of not only his Lancaster friends and family, as well as the new found friends in Florida. We love you Sparky. Semper Fi! This organization matches rescue dogs with Veterans suffering with PTSD. A Celebration of Sparky's life will be held at 2PM, on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543. Family and friends will be received at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
