They enjoyed taking bus trips, train trips and a memorable anniversary trip to Ireland. Richard always liked to be active and involved, whether it be at home, in church or with his sports. He loved to garden, cook and bake. He sang in the church choir and with the FFA Quartet. He enjoyed bird watching. He played in several bowling leagues, including mixed leagues, and a travel league. However his passion is golf. Richard was a very talented golfer. His highlight was playing in the DuPont Amateur Open in Myrtle Beach, SC.
