Richard Scott Hartman of United Zion Retirement Community, formerly of Lititz passed away peacefully July 15, 2024, at UPMC, following a lengthy illness. He was the husband of Pamala K. Groves Hartman, with whom he celebrated fifty years of marriage in 2023. The couple were married Sept. 1, 1973, in the Lititz United Methodist Church.

Born in Columbia he was the son of the late Winifred K. (Hartman) Shultz Auer and Richard C. Shultz. He was raised by his maternal grandparents Winfield "Winn" Scott Hartman and Kathryn M. Finegan Hartman of Columbia. Scott graduated from Lancaster Catholic High School in 1964.

Following graduation, he was employed as a retail merchandise manager for Edward Etweiler & Son, Furniture, Inc., Columbia. He later worked for Two Guys, Lancaster and Shillington, Pa., until taking a job with the Wilbur Chocolate Co., later Cargill, Inc., retiring as the Lititz plant's receiving and shipping manager in 2011. He also worked part-time for Shaad Security, Lancaster, as a security guard.

He enjoyed attending auctions and buying and selling antiques and collectibles at his stand at Black Angus Antique Mall, Adamstown, and Root's Flea Market.

His favorite hobby however was sports, whether local high school sports or national teams. He was an avid Phillies and Eagles fan and enjoyed collecting sports memorabilia. The walls of his room at United Zion were covered with sports-related items including pennants, baseball caps, and jerseys.

On May 19, 2023, Scott was proud to be invited by the Columbia Borough Police Department to attend a ceremony honoring his maternal great grandfather Harry F. Hartman, who on Apr. 4, 1923, was the only Columbia Borough policeman to be killed in the line of duty in the history of the borough.

In addition to his widow, he is survived by a son Blair Scott Hartman, Conestoga, and four grandchildren Madison, Meredith, Miranda, and Cole Hartman.

A celebration of Scott's life will be held at a later date, the burial will be private. Memorial donations in Scott's memory can be made to the URZC Benevolent Fund and mailed to UZRC, c/o Benevolent Fund, 722 Furnace Hills
