Richard H. Bricker, Sr., 92, passed away on Friday, August 27, 2010 at the Lakeside at Willow Valley.

He was the husband of the late Margaret T. Trees Bricker, who passed away in 2007. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Raymond H. and Catherine Siders Bricker.

Richard had been employed as a clerk for the US Postal Service for 37 years, primarily at the W. Chestnut St. branch, until his retirement in 1980. He was a member of the National Assn. of Retired Federal Employees.

He was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, where he had been a member of the Senior Group.

A US Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, he served as a Staff Sgt. and was a mechanic working on bombers. He was a member of the American Legion Post 34.

He enjoyed traveling the world with his late wife, and enjoyed going to Myrtle Beach and Hilton Head Island for the winters. He enjoyed playing golf and tennis, and had been a volunteer with the Wolf Pack Team since 1995 with the Relay For Life. He was also an avid Notre Dame and Philadelphia Eagles fan.

Richard is survived by his son James R. married to Nancy L. Bricker of Galena, MD; his 3 grandchildren: TimothyW.  married to Shannon Bricker, Cynthia married to David Henry, and Sharon married to Eric Helt, and by his 7 great grandchildren Hailey, Camryn, Emily, Luke, Lauren, Andrew, and Kaitlyn. He is also survived by his 2 brothers Robert married to Erma Bricker of Quarryville, and Raymond "Bud" married to Patricia Bricker of Lancaster. He was preceded in death by his son, Richard H. Bricker Jr., his sisters Hattie Wiker and Mary Weitzel, and his brothers Wilmer, Melvin, Russell and Kenneth Bricker.

Friends will be received at 830AM on Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2010 for the recitation of The Rosary and to greet the family from 9-10:15AM at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory, 414 E. King St., Lancaster, PA. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11AM at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 558 W. Walnut St., Lancaster, PA, with the Rev. Michael Messner as Celebrant. Interment in St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery.
