Obituary

Richard D. Bollinger, 96, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, October 23, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Huntingdon, PA, he was the son of the late Edna (Bollinger) and Richard D. Bollinger. He was the devoted husband of Janet (Griel) Bollinger, with whom he shared over 25 wonderful years of marriage.

A graduate of Stevens Trade, Richard built a lifelong career as a skilled carpenter, working throughout Lancaster County. His craftsmanship and attention to detail were evident in every project he undertook. He was a proud member of Millersville Community Church, where he found fellowship and faith among friends. Richard was a proud veteran of the US Army serving in the Korean Conflict.

Richard enjoyed a variety of hobbies that reflected his patience, creativity, and zest for life. He loved a good game of pinochle with family and friends. He was a dedicated sports fan, cheering faithfully for Penn State football, the Philadelphia Eagles, and the Phillies. In his younger years, he played basketball, football and pitched in a modified softball league. He also coached youth basketball, football and baseball, leaving a positive mark on many young athletes. He took great pride in tending his vegetable garden, sharing its bounty with those he loved.

In addition to his wife, Janet, Richard is survived by his children: Susan M. Devenburgh of Landisville; Richard D. Bollinger, husband of Susan, of Manheim; Rodney Bollinger of Maytown; Randy Bollinger of Lancaster; and stepson, Jeff Griel, husband of Valerie, of Leola. He was lovingly known as "Pap" to his five grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and one step great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his sister, Betty, an infant brother, and his son-in-law Charles Devenburgh.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 31, 2025, at Millersville Community Church, 163 W. Frederick Street, Millersville, PA 17551. Family and friends will be received from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Interment will follow at Conestoga Memorial Park, Lancaster, PA.
