Obituary

Richard P. "Dick" Boas, 100, of Lancaster, passed away on Sunday, June 23, 2019.

He was the husband of the late Miriam R. Eckman Boas who passed away in 2004. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late George W. and Catherine Eppley Boas.

Dick, also known as "Whitey", had worked for Armstrong and then Kerr Glass for 37 years. Following his retirement from Kerr, he worked from 1977 to 1984 for Lancaster Newspapers as a messenger in the retail advertising department.

Whitey was a 1938 graduate of Lancaster Boys High School and then went on to serve in the US Navy on the USS Roberts Destroyer 749 in the Pacific Theater in World War II.

He loved to go see the Phillies play in Connie Mack Stadium, taking trips on vacation to Cape May, and loved San Francisco 49ers football. He was a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He is survived by his sons: Glenn R. Boas of Lancaster, and David R. married to Esther Boas of Manheim and by his 5 grandchildren. He was preceded in by his son, Jeffrey P. Boas, and brother, Harold F. Boas.

Dick's family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Hospice & Community Care at the Mount Joy Inpatient facility for the compassionate care provided to Dick.

Friends and family are invited to attend Whitey's graveside services on Friday, June 28, 2019 at 11AM at Conestoga Memorial Park, 95 Second Lock Rd in Lancaster. All are invited to gather at 10:15AM at the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz for a procession departure at 10:30AM for the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in Dick's memory to Hospice & Community Care , 685 Good Drive, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125 and the American Heart Association , 610 Community Way, Lancaster, PA 17603.
